Testimonial

I have been a client with Fremont Laser Med Spa for three months. I heard them on the radio and never thought it was possible to achieve the results they talk about. I started at 254 pound and my height is 5-9 within three month I am at 192 pounds and the best thing is my energy is through the roof. I was in length explained everything by their spa director, Lynn. In this program you have to eat the right kind of food 5 - 6 times a day and there are no counting calories - only portion control. I did all this with grocery store bought food. My goal is to be around 165-170 pounds and I think I will be there shortly. I am so happy that I am making my before and after picture album for the clinic to place it in there reception area. I would recommend this to anyone who is serious about weight loss . What is Body Mass Index?

BMI (body mass index) is a formula that uses both weight and height to estimate body fat. For most people, BMI provides a reasonable estimate of body fat before beginning any diet program. Due to its ease of measurement and calculation, the BMI Calculator is the most widely used diagnostic tool to identify weight problems within a population, usually whether individuals are underweight, overweight or obese. As you now know, BMI can be used to indicate if you are overweight, obese, underweight or normal. Here are the facts: A healthy BMI score is between 19 and 24.9. A score below 19 indicates that you may be underweight; a value above 25 indicates that you may be overweight. Excess body fat is related to serious health conditions . Consider the benefits of achieving a healthy weight — a reduced risk of serious health conditions such as heart disease, stroke and diabetes, increased energy and improved self-esteem. Everyone should know their own BMI. Once you reach your ideal weight with Fremont Laser Med Spa you can Submit Your Weight Loss Success Stories here.

What is obesity?

Obesity is a range of weight that is greater than what is generally considered healthy for a given height. For adults, overweight and obesity ranges are determined by using weight and height to calculate a number called the "body mass index" (BMI). An adult who has a BMI of 30 or higher is considered obese. (Note that because muscle is denser than fat, some athletes may have a BMI that identifies them as overweight even though they are not carrying excess body fat.) Another way of measuring obesity is a body weight 20% or more above the desirable weight.

While obesity used to be considered as the simple result of eating too much and not exercising enough, it is now regarded as a serious medical condition associated with a complex set of factors. Obesity is understood to be a chronic disease with serious health implications.

While overeating and under-exercising do contribute to obesity, a number of other factors are also understood to play a role: genes, metabolism, behavior, environment, culture, and socioeconomic status.

Obesity leads to greater risk for the following conditions: coronary heart disease, type 2 diabetes, cancers (endometrial, breast, and colon), hypertension (high blood pressure), dyslipidemia (for example, high total cholesterol or high levels of triglycerides), stroke, liver and gallbladder disease, sleep apnea and respiratory problems, osteoarthritis (a degeneration of cartilage and its underlying bone within a joint), gynecological problems (abnormal menses, infertility).

Second only to cigarette smoking, obesity is one of the leading causes of preventable death. A weight reduction as small as 5–10% can significantly reduce an individual’s health risk.
